Every time I use my Chrome browser, I’m getting an alert that a threat has been detected. It appears to be telling me that Chrome is a threat! Can this be right? How can I get rid of it? I think it is a PUP but I don’t know what that means.

Do you still get the alerts and if so is it Chrome only
I’m afraid I am still getting the alerts and yes, it is only with Chrome. I have tried reinstalling Chrome twice now, with no effect.
Could you disable all extensions please and see if the alerts stop
Oh, thank you, Essexboy! I have worked my way through my Extensions, turning them all off and them enabling them one-by-one. I found one that caused the problem! It was Facebook Video Downloader. I’ve deleted it (and reported it).
Let’s hope that is the end of it.
Many thanks.
Peter

Subject to no further problems
I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems
