Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Bagle.aeq kill avast installation.

For the moment I’m not able to start Avast at all.
Even reinstalling of Avast not help. It not starting on system start up and don’t want to start boottime scaning.

When I tried to run Avast manually I got message ashAvast.exe is not valid Win32 application.

Then I started Kaspersky Online Virus scan and it found that I got
Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Bagle.aeq

Please advice!!!

Hi…

I’m not sure if Kaspersky’s online scanner removes the viruses but I think these do…

In addition, I also recommend a regimen created by Tech, a fellow member of this forum. Go to this thread and read the last post…

Hope this helps…

This too:

(F-Secure and Kaspersky share the same virus definitions.)

After you’re clean, maybe you should do an installation from the scratch:

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
  2. Boot.
  3. Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation.
  4. Boot.
  5. Install again the latest avast! version.
  6. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.

Dear Tech,
Thank you for your post.
Unfortunately it not help.
I followed your instructions, but Avast is not run again.

Hi Const…

Others posted here with instructions, too. Didn’t they help? ::slight_smile:

Dear ardvark!
Thank you very much for your help.
Unfortunately no one online scaners can solve this problem.
Finally I tried about 15 :frowning:

On other topic for this forum I got advice how to fix problem using ComboFix.exe
It looks like that it help.

It quite strange that avast have no protection from that virus because it was fond several months ago.
But… :frowning:

Hi…

You’re welcome!

I would think avast would have a signature for the particular virus but if you were already infected before you installed avast, it’s most likely the virus, in some way, interfered with, corrupted or destroyed avast’s software during and/or after the install.

Best Regards…

So Bagle infection is still active in your computer, preventing avast installation.
Please, run a full computer on-line scanning:
Kaspersky (very good detection rates)
ESET NOD32
Trendmicro housecall
F-Secure
BitDefender (free removal of the malware)

Well Bagle/Beagle frequently comes with a rootkit to protect or restore it.

Also see, anti-rootkit, detection, removal & protection http://www.antirootkit.com/software/index.htm. Try these as they are some of the more efficient and user friendly anti-rootkit tools.
