There is a file on my computer generated on 3rd April 2017, and detected by IObit malware fighter, as containing a Trojan. Gen:Trojan.Heur.PT.bi6@b0LDK4p, file, C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\pdf.dll, 0
I know this is not a genuine dll as I tried to unregister it for deletion via command prompt, which failed because it is not a genuine dll. Although I have administrator status I am unable to delete the file.
IObit malware fighter reported that if failed to remove the Trojan, but following an update to Avast (had to be instigated manually even though automatic was selected) a reun of IObit malware fighter on the Avast program was clear. Can I be sure this has gone and is not hiding?
Why would you want to delete an Avast component ??? imo you should uninstall Iobit as they’re a distrustful company and if you want a second opinion scanner use Malwarebytes.
Not all IObit software are “untrusted”. However, it’s advisable to stick to the reputable Security companies when it comes to choosing a security product. For example, Bitdefender over IMF Pro.
An article from 2009 is an unreasonable biased opinion, since the company now uses Bitdefender engine in paid versions. It’s also been 8 years since this incident - unless you use XP, then nothing really changes. (Get the joke? Lol)
Options:
Get money back for IMF Pro or Uninstall IMF Free
Report FP to IObit
Switch to Bitdefender Free or Buy/Promo to Bitdefender (paid)
Switch to Avast Free or Upgrade/Promo to Avast (paid)
