Trojan Gen.exe

Hi
I received a message of a virus ( Trojan Gen.exe ). I try to send the virus to Chest but the virus message was just popping up again continually. After a full scan was completed and on the log file I tried to delete the infected file. But by doing this I got a message that another program is using it and my request is denied. A friend of mine suggest to boot in Safe mode and then to run Avast again and to disable System restore for that period of time. Before doing this I want to know if it will resolve my problem. Or what should I do ???

Any suggestions
Please let me know
Johan

  • What OS are you using?
  • What avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number, e.g. 0436-4 (see about avast!)
  • What was the virus name, what was the filename, where was it found
    example (C:\windows\system32\infected-filename.xxx)?

Files in use can ultimately be protected by windows, so you may not be able to move/delete them. If you have XP, win2k or NT based os you can schedule a boot-time scan from within avast.
