Avast has picked up a Trojan-gen virus, it recommended that i put it in the chest, but i selected delete. i then ran a scan quite a number of times but it still seems to pick it up again, i then select the chest and do another scan and it picks it up a few times again, it seems that it cannot get rid of this virus, can anybody please assist?
also why does avast not have a program that can scan for any adware/spyware and remove them?
Some virus are replicant and resurrect themselves.
I suggest:
Disable System Restore and reenable it after step 3.
Clean your temporary files.
Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete than.
Thanks for the info, i did do a root scan and selected delete all, the result at the end of scan said some files were corrupt.
i then did another normal scan and nothing was picked up, then i did a scan with super anti spyware free edition and nothing was picked up. I then downloaded Spyware Doctor and this picked up 12 infections and 4 threats one of them being Worm.I.M.Sohanad (1 infections)
the other being Trojan-PWS.OnlineGames.ARun (5 infections)
the next one is Adware.Comet_Cursor (i infection)
the rest were trackinkg cookies.
could you please advise me on what to do next.
Also is there any free Spyware Removal tools available?
Frank did give you farther advice in his last post above.
Have you used the free programs he listed above?
Finally, if none of them help, do as Frank suggested and post a HJT log here.
Please download HijackThis from Frank’s link above or from the link below, run the program but do not make any fixes, and then post the log results using the “copy & paste” method. It will probably take more than one post to be able to get the complete log posted. OR, you can post it as an attachment to your post by clicking on “Additional Options…” below left of the posting box. Someone will review your log and then offer help.

i never use this Java software, all i want to do is rid of the Trojan viruses and worms as was picked up by spyware doctor (unfortunately to remove them you have to purchase this product from them). and would like to know why Avast could not detect these even though i have recieved daily updates.
No software is perfect and that is the reason there are other alternatives.
At this point, I suggest you download the free version of Spybot - Search & Destroy, Spyware Terminator, or SuperAntiSpyware. Or you might use all of them as non-resident programs. Be sure to update each of them before running a scan.
Whether you actively use Java or not, it is there and needs to be updated. There are many websites that will not load for you without Java. As with any such program as Java, malware writers find security holes in such programs that they can use to infect your computer. This is why it is important to keep such programs up to date.
I suggest you follow YoKenny’s advice as quoted below in order to easily keep all your programs up to date.
Check your Sun Java levels installed:
