I need help. I am a total novice, and it shows. This is my story: yesterday AVG detected a virus called Trojan Horse Dialer. Trend Micro identified this trojan as PE_MAGISTR.B, but it will not remove it to the vault. Today I downloaded Avast. It detected a virus which I deleted. I then ran AVG and it picked up the same infected files and virus, but would not remove it to the vault. What should I do? Any help is sincerely appreciated. ;D
Also, filepaths are C:_Restore\Temp\A0060300.CPY; C:_Restore\Temp\0063037, " 0063038 through 0063040.
An addition: I hope whoever wrote this for whatever means gets a kidney infection; Very painful, usually not lethal, expensive and time consuming. I know it’s petty, but it’s all I have. :-[
Take care using two antivirus at the same computer…
You think you´re protected but could not and more than this, your residents (scanning on-the-fly) may not work properly.
There are lots of foruns discussing the use of two av simultaneously…
Thank you, I’ll keep that in mind. Could I disable the resident scan on AVG and keep it enabled on Avast? I’m telling you, I’m very new at this. I’ve never been in a chat room, and I have no idea what instant messaging is about. Pretty bad, huh? Maybe I should get rid of one of the programs, and it will NOT be Avast! Also, do you think that a program that does nothing but look for trojans is necessary? This whole thing has freaked me out and I’m building my arsenal. By the way, what is a firewall? :-[
Thanks for your patience and help. ;D
But, if you install AVG and avast… I suggest you desinstall AVG. Even with residents deactivated, you will have trouble with Windows Registry. The desinstalation of AVG is clear and functional. If you want a second antivirus, use BitDefender Free version (without the shield or resident). See http://www.avast.com/forum/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=859;start=new
I will uninstall AVG and keep Avast!. Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve done some research about firewalls, anti-trojans, anti-virus programs, and I cannot believe I have made it this long with nothing happening any worse than it did. In retrospect, this may have gone on a long time. I used to try and click an icon on my desktop and they would all run away from the mouse. :
I will install the freeware firewall and then check the security - thanks Nikita! and THANKS to all. I will get it eventually. :-\
