The grammar is too bad even for a Microsoft warning and exclamation marks aren’t normally used by MS
Anyone seen it before and anyone got an idea of how serious the popup is and how to find it and get rid of it?
This is most certainly scam/scumware and had you chosen to download you would have been most likely infecting your system. Or wanted money up front to clean a non-existent infection.
You would probably not be surprised by how many people would fall for this scam, so well done for thinking and investigating rather than making a rash decision.
Step through FWF’s suggestions and report their findings.
I found there a .dll had loaded into windows\system about the time the funny happening started.
I did a google and found it was a BOM OH ??? I think that was the type - stupid me got so excited I forgot to write down what it was called. Had to delete in safe mode - did all that
I’m so sorry to everyone else who gets this and I didn’t write the name down.
Simple way around my stupidity - when you open your windows\system folder view details and arrange by modified - check out the most recent dll’s through google and see if they are causing the problem
no alligators in Australia LOL - we’ve got (or had) the crocodile man he used to surf (on boards) where I body surf LOL
at least with the description I’ve given others may be able to figure it out, maybe avast might pick up on it?? Do they check these forums for unusual stuff?
