Hi,
I’ve just run a scan using the latest def and I find I have a Win32:Trojan-gen {vb} virus in winaspi32.exe. I ran an online virus checker to determine which virus it is and the result came back Trojan:Win32.VB.qv
Does anyone know what this virus does? I have searched high and low for info on what damage this particular virus causes but to no avail. The infected file is in the chest so that makes me feel a little happier but I would like to know what has been compromised by having this virus.
Many thanks for any help,
Paj.
Eddy

It is a backdoor trojan and related to browser hijackers.
I suggest you follow the instruction in the malware removal section to make sure your system is clean.

Hi Eddy,
Thanks for the info
I’ve done all that you have suggested and came up clean. (I already run Ad-aware and SpywareBlaster and I use the hosts file from www.mpvs.org)
Am I right in assuming that I am now safe as all the checks came back clean?
TIA,
Paj.
BTW, what does the virus actually do? How can I check to see if my internet security has already been compromised?

Hi Eddy,
Thanks for the clarification
:-[
The website says that there is “no description available for this malicious program.” So I guess I have no idea what it actually has done…
Cheers,
Paj.

The link I gave you clearly explains what backdoors, trojans and other malware is doing.

Hi,
I’m sorry I got confused :-[ I read it as a list of different trojans that all did different things. I hadn’t realised that my one trojan did all of that :-[
Thank you for your help
Paj.
