I am new and I don’t understand why this FREE program can not remove a Trojan. I guess it is because it it free. Anyway how do I remove the Win32:Trojan-gen{Other}?
I have read the other posts, but I see no where to email the Trojan. Sorry I just don’t understand ???
First can you post the name and location of the infected file eg virus.exe in C/windows/system32
Secondly i take it Avast detects this trojan, but cannot delete ?
It has nothing to do with because it is free.
Why couldn’t avast deal with the trojan ?
e.g. what errors were displayed, typically file in use, etc.
What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections. C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashLogV.exe
- Or check the source file using notepad C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\Warning.log and copy and paste the entry.
If you have XP, vista32bit or Win2k, you could enable a boot time scan. Right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, a memory scan will take place followed by the opening of the Simple User Interface, Menu, ‘Schedule boot-time scan…’ Or see http://www.digitalred.com/avast-boot-time.php.
Deletion isn’t really a good first option (you have none left), ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.
