I need some serious help. I am not computer savvy, like the rest of you. I just got a new Dell and have a virus "win32:Trogano-169[Trj]…when i turn my computer on it says the c"windown/system32/bridge.dll will not work/be imported. Then my Avast goes off. It won’t let me delete, move to anywhere, including chese, repair, nothing…it tells me that it is being used in another application or something like that…it is being used somewhere else…anyway, I have to eventually “x” the box out because the siren keeps going off…I can get access to everything from there…then when I’m done…I run an Avast…it sirens the trogan virus by name, and at the end tells me it has been deleted…but the next morning when I start up my computer it starts all over again…please help…this computer is only a month old!..Janice
The problem is that the virus is running in memory, so even though you think you’ve gotten rid of it, it will continue to come back each time you re-boot.
I had the exact same problem with 3-4 variants of the “Trojano” virus.
What you need to do is run a “Boottime Scan”. It’s an option on the Avast setup menu; I think it’s called “Schedule a Boottime Scan”. Once you’ve set up the boottime scan option, re-boot. This will run a scan before ANY programs are loaded into memory. Guaranteed you’re going to find at least one virus. Avast will give you several options, i.e. delete, fix, move to folder, etc. Probably the safest thing to do with an infected file if Avast cannot fix it (which is often the case) is to move it to a folder where you can at least look at the file name later - the virus may have infected important application files and this way you will be able to go back and see what files were affected so that you can then determine what files you either need to replace or which apps need to be reinsalled on your PC.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck! ;D
