I set avast to do a thorough scan, at nite time when i am asleep.
Heres my prob:-
IF avast finds a trojan, it comes up with a new window, asking me for instructions.
Until i tell avast what to do, (Move to chest) the scan will NOT proceed.
Is there a way of programming avast to send ALL trojans/virus etc etc straight to the chest without me having to sit at my PC all night waiting to click…‘MOVE TO CHEST’ so as avast can continue?
PLEASE PLEASE…I am a gas engineer…NOT a PC person at all, :-[but I am not stupid if the answer is given in English ;D
I have looked at some of the answers given on here…geez its like you guys are speaking another dialict
In Home version you can check the option “Don’t show this window again” as soon as the first virus warning appears, and click on “No action” button. This way, nothing will be done and you will be presented the results at the end (and you can perform actions from there).
Well, that’s the way it is, I am afraid; you may call it a limitation of the Home Edition of avast!. In the Professional Edition, you can configure the task to perform automatic actions (or, don’t do anything).
In the Home version, you may check the “Don’t show again” checkbox in the Virus warning dialog - but only after the first virus has been found (because you won’t see the virus dialog until then).
You don’t say what version of avast you are using so I assume it is the Home version as the Pro version doesn’t have this issue ?
You first on-access scan might well dig out any previously undetected malware once removed the resident scanners should keep the system clean.
Over time this will become less of an issue, as the resident, on-access scanners are designed to intercept infection before it gets into your system.
So whilst this is a limitation of the Home (free) version that it has interactive input requirement, there have to be differences in the Home/Pro version and this is one of them, the programmers have to eat ;D
Next time you scan with avast, note where the scan starts. You can place a fake virus file, such as one of the eicar test files, near that location. When avast detects it, you can do what Tech advised, by checking the box.
You should exclude that file from the on access scanner.
