Trojans; DNSChanger-VJ and Malware-gen

Okay, so I’ve been having issues with these for the past few days now. I’d get a notif from Avast telling me that the trojan had been blocked, and that I should run a boot-time scan, which I would do, but after completing the boot-time scan, I’d get the same notifications from Avast all over again. Installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on the advice of a friend, but even that wasn’t completely doing the job. Found this topic, and so I decided to post a thread of my own asking for help.

Anyway, here’s my saved log from OTL:

And my log from aswMBR:

Found this topic, and so I decided to post a thread of my own asking for help.
Then i guess you red the laste reply there......so essexboy is probably not online here before tomorrow

Yeah, I’m aware. This thread will still exist tomorrow, and hopefully still be on the first page, so I can wait until then.

I send him a PM so he will see it…

Hi I will need to use a stronger tool on this one as you have some registry changes that need to be done in the correct order

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Run OTL

[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:OTL [2011/08/26 19:15:58 | 000,001,112 | -HS- | C] () -- C:\Users\Dirk Ykema\AppData\Local\38s67061yeqx20qt5i0ur27322f22txh4wekcl4qqb18 [2011/08/26 19:15:58 | 000,001,112 | -HS- | C] () -- C:\ProgramData\38s67061yeqx20qt5i0ur27322f22txh4wekcl4qqb18 [2011/08/26 19:15:57 | 000,000,000 | ---- | C] () -- C:\ProgramData\tfiu.exe [2011/08/26 19:15:57 | 000,000,000 | ---- | C] () -- C:\ProgramData\mwsf.exe [2011/08/26 19:15:57 | 000,000,000 | ---- | C] () -- C:\Users\Dirk Ykema\AppData\Local\jyxv.exe [2011/08/26 19:15:57 | 000,000,000 | ---- | C] () -- C:\ProgramData\gyrs.exe [2011/08/26 19:15:57 | 000,000,000 | ---- | C] () -- C:\Users\Dirk Ykema\AppData\Local\gocb.exe [2011/08/26 19:15:57 | 000,000,000 | ---- | C] () -- C:\ProgramData\gfqb.exe [2011/08/26 19:15:57 | 000,000,000 | ---- | C] () -- C:\Users\Dirk Ykema\AppData\Local\chfi.exe [2011/08/26 19:15:57 | 000,000,000 | ---- | C] () -- C:\Users\Dirk Ykema\AppData\Local\cgsp.exe [2011/04/21 15:16:40 | 000,009,018 | -HS- | C] () -- C:\Users\Dirk Ykema\AppData\Local\8u4s5d5r4p8skdu5877nh2pc22e2y1d72i0846d0hek3et [2011/04/21 15:16:40 | 000,009,018 | -HS- | C] () -- C:\ProgramData\8u4s5d5r4p8skdu5877nh2pc22e2y1d72i0846d0hek3et [2011/04/18 15:03:00 | 000,012,194 | -HS- | C] () -- C:\Users\Dirk Ykema\AppData\Local\2xm3832m5a2b2ngvwb0w6bni48a870mdep [2011/04/18 15:03:00 | 000,012,194 | -HS- | C] () -- C:\ProgramData\2xm3832m5a2b2ngvwb0w6bni48a870mdep

[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

All right, ran everything as instructed. Haven’t seen a trojan warning yet, but obviously that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Computer seems to be running faster and behaving better than it did before. I’ll be keeping mbam and everything else I’ve downloaded in fixing this in case it happens again.

c:\windows\system32\consrv.dll
Thats the bad boy - now dead

If all is well tomorrow - let me know and I will remove my tools

I’ve had one notif pop up from mbam, when I ran TF2, blocking a harmful outgoing connection, but Avast has been quiet since I ran OTL with the fixes you gave me, and ComboFix. I’ll be keeping my eye on it for the rest of the day, and I’ll post tomorrow to let you know how it goes.

I appreciate all the help!

Well, it’s a little later than I was intending to check in, but anyway, I just figured I’d say that your fix seems to have done the job. I haven’t had any more trouble from my trojans, and my computer’s returned to normal. Thanks so much!

Essexboy should be on-line later today (after work about 7pm, it is currently 12:27pm UK time) and should give you removal instructions for his tools and any additional advise for your system.

Subject to no further problems
.
I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems
