Trojans & Worms/AVAST missed them?!

I have been having major problems with my system. I ran A-squared Hijack Free to see what the problem(s) are/were. It reported no malware but more than 13 infections (NERTE, MASTERLOCK, STARTER WORM, AUTOTROJ-C, FLOOD.AV, BIG FOOT, RIOSYS.MACRO, etc/

I then ran a scan with AVAST and got a report of NO infections!

Something is not right somewhere.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I think you should send these suspisios files to virus@avast.com in password protected archive (with password included). But at first you should run online scanner like this one
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/
Just carefully read all instructions, as I recommend you to change online scanner behavior settings to “Ask user”. Good luck.

Hi tommyk,

That is not so amazing. HijackThis finds quite a lot of things an AV scanner is not meant for, and a trojan scanner finds a lot of things an AV scanner does not scan for. Wait for our HJT guys to answer your HJT log posting, and you will get an advice to get rid of this malware, or posts the files at the jotti scanner.

I’ve posted a suggestion here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=13798.msg120077#msg120077

I have Spyware Blaster, Spyware Dr., Ad-Aware, A-Squared. No spyware was detected there.

I just ran Trojan Hunter and no Trojans were found.

So, you seem to be clean… Do you have any other trouble? Do you need more help?

Yes . . . need more help. My Outlook Express is not responding. I have to go through Dial-Up Network to get connected to the Web.

Any idea why A-Squared would say I have more than 10 Trojans/Worms and all my anti-spyware, anti-trojan software, anti-virus shows no spyware, infections, or trojans?

Something is obviously not working on my system.

Check Outlook > Tools > Options > Connection… Browse everything there, is there anything wrong or strange?

Could be false positives, can you post the name/path of these files?
You can submit the files to Jotti and let us know the results, i.e., if they are or are not false positives.
