Trouble inserting Licence file

Hi I am new here so hello everyone.

I have installed windows 8.1 therefore had to re install Avast Antivirus, I previously purchased the pro version in 2014 but now when I re insert the Licence file the laptop will not reboot past the start screen, the only way I can get my laptop back on is by pressing the F11 button on startup and doing a system restore

Any help would be appreciated please thank you.

I am not sure which version but in Account it says I am Avast Orange and it is avast! Internet Security - Subscription 3PC, 1 Year Paid £24.99 in 2014 if that helps
I have removed Norton that came with PC using the Norton Removal Tool, this is the only AV I have used, I have not installed any other protection other than what comes with windows.

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)…!!

Then:

  1. Download Avast Internet Security: http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
