Trouble with aswRvrt.sys

Hi, I wondered if someone could help me out with an issue that seems to be plauging my sony vaio (vpcea3m1e)
I cannot boot into windows, cant boot into any safe mode, there is a ‘hanging’ point after aswRvrt.sys has been loaded. Ater trundling the net for a while i stumbled upon this forum and a few fixes ‘essexboy’ had posted. After trying a few of these methods nothin seems to work… So basically im a lil stuck on what to do next.

Cheers in advance!

hey and welcome to the forum. what os you using?

i will drop a note to essexboy on your thread so that he can give you help out.

Hi what have you tried so far ?

Hi essexboy, right, ive downloaded the 3 programs, rufus, win7 and farbar, created the iso and so on, followed the instructions down to the t but the laptop wont budge from the windows loading screen…

Oh and its windows 7 vista, 32 (x86)

hey again thanks fro the information. essexboy will continue help you when he comes online again.

No problem cheers! Just to add, i have tried booting from usb and hard disk both without fruition, unfortunately i dont have the disk as windows came pre-installed.

Some have a recover partition that you can boot in to if you click f11 or f12 during start up
You may find that info on the vendors website or google it

Hi Pondus, yeah tried that, no such luck… Still hanging

Was the USB with recovery console on it unable to boot, did you change the boot order to USB first ? Also does the boot indicate a EUFI boot sequence ?

Yes, yes and no. Though after leaving the laptop for the last few hours it has popped up with the vaio care rescue program… The easiest thing to do here would just back up my data and restore but alas my external wont contain the amount of data id wish to rescue…

Can the restore programme copy to a different partition on the computer or do you only have one partition ?

Its seems there are two partitions, i was under the impression there was only one… If i copy the data id wish to save to another partition wouldnt it get erased as the system restore would delete it right?

If the computer came pre formatted with two drives then it will be safe. If it was partitioned afterwards then it won’t

Within the factory restore is there the option to just replace the windows files

Ive managed to save the data i needed and booted the system through the recovery, all seems well though i am a lil weary of going back to avast, is there a recomended version i should install?
Cheers!

The thing to be aware of is that when windows appears to be stuck on a file, it is actually reporting the last one successfully loaded and not the one that is not loading

Cool, cheers for the help dude
