I clicked on the green screen when Avast told me there was a new version of the Avast Home edition. It started to install but for some reason, an error came up about the aswCmnOs.dll. I then uninstalled the conventional way via Add/Remove programs. I then tried to install it again but it came up that ir could not find the aswCmnOs.dll file. I then tried to use Avast uninstall process via the downloaded program. It erased 4 files. I then tried to install the same program but it came up with the same problem. Any help would be great either from another person from the forum or someone from Avast themselves.

I tried all those options. I have an error log copied. the forum will not allow me to post it becasue it is too long. Any more suggestions?

I’ve asked from the programmers help to see if any of them knows what is going on… sorry it’s beyond my knowledge.
Do you have Spyware Doctor installed?
If so, please uninstall it, uninstall avast’s remains, reboot, install avast, reboot.

I do not have Sypware Doctor installed. I have tried the uninstall avast remains, rebooted, tried to reinstall avast and then reboot again but it did not work. I am going to try it again but doubt if it will work again. Will reply back if it does or not.
After the complete cleanup, can you please try to search harddrive for avast dlls? Namely ashbase.dll, aswCmnOs.dll. Are they somewhere on the system?
