To my great surprise and dismay the Trovigo virus could pass thru the Avast defense and infect my Firefox browser. I’ve already performed quick scan as well as deep scan with a reboot, but no relief. All google searches advise me to download another anti-malware software to take the virus out. I don’t want to do that. Could anyone please tell me if there is an Avast solution to this problem? Thank you.

Trovigo is not malware .... it is a PUP
PUP = not virus / Possible Unwanted Program ..... usually crap that comes bundled with freeware downloads
avast PUP detection is default off exept for in boot scan … so if you want PUP detection, turn it on
PUP are usually easy removed with Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner http://malwaretips.com/blogs/trovigo-virus-removal/
if you need removal help, follow instructions http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0
