I just noticed today that the Rapport icon was not showing in my Firefox 5 browser. I used Rapport’s support to try to determine the problem. It suggested downloading and installing Rapport again. I did that, and the installation was aborted saying that it had a conflict with Avast and that they were working on correcting it. I have used Avast with Firefox and Rapport for years, and this is the first problem I’ve had. The Rapport icons also show just fine in Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702 and don’t seem to conflict with Avast. Can anybody tell me what to do to restore that icon? And how would I know if I have the virus I’ve heard of called trusteer rapport cereberus? (I’m not sure about the spelling.) Could that virus cause the icon not to appear in Firefox? Any help will surely be appreciated. …Pam
Rapport doesn’t work with FF5 (yet). It should do in a few days (so the Trusteer website claims). If you want to have Trusteer working at present (and I know some banks are pretty keen that you do have it) then you will probably have to revert to FF4 I think.
Rapport cerberus is occasionally flagged by heuristics scanning by avast, but this has been a false positive when it has happened on my machine (it has only ever happened with xp, never w7 - virustotal has always shown the file clean).
Thank you so much. I was worried that I might have gotten a terrible worm that was stealing my banking information, etc. Since Rapport works with Internet Explorer, I’ll probably just use that until I can get it back working with Firefox. I don’t have a clue as to how to go back to Firefox 4. Is that something that’s fairly easy to do?
There’s no simpler way that I know of than uninstalling FF5 and downloading and installing FF4.
Hi once again -
I received an email from Trusteer support saying that there was a new version of Rapport that I could download that would not conflict with Firefox. I uninstalled the old version first and downloaded the new one only to find that I got the same message I got yesterday. It said that Avast Antivirus and Zone Alarm could not be used in conjunction with each other, and it aborted the installation. I don’t have Zone Alarm and haven’t had it for many years. I use a Comodo firewall. If there are Zone Alarm files hiding somewhere on my computer, I can’t find them. Can someone please help?
I tried to download Firefox 4, and I don’t think it can be done. If anyone knows where to find it, I’d appreciate your telling me.
Navigate down from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/4.0.1/ to your choice of languages.
Just got to the web site of Trusteer and downloaded the new setup file. After uninstanlling the previous version and rebooting, I installed the new version and rebooted. I had to go to the Console and click “unmask the icon” there. Trusteer icon appears now to be working fine in FF5
