I’ve written a simply keystroke logger for my system here, my kid has been looking up all sorts of unscrupulous material online, and I wanted to know about it before he gets himself into trouble. I understand that, as a keylogger, it behaves like a virus. Avast! marks it as being a virus and prevents the program from doing it’s job. Is there a way to circumvent this, to make Avast! ignore this file, so that it can do it’s job?
Yes, just configure the both avast Exclusion lists.
For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…
For the other providers (on-demand scanning such as the screen-saver or the Simple User Interface):
Right click the ‘a’ blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button…
You can use wildcards like * and ?.
But be careful, you should ‘exclude’ that many files that let your system in danger.
