I decided today to upgrade avast so went online to see how much it was. The price in Canadian dollars total was 34.97 so I purchased a prepaid visa card for 35 bucks. The card was declined by visa so I called them they say the amount is +87 cents… ??? what is with that why not put the actual total price on the site I am annoyed.
Having second thoughts what is this extra 87 cents now I have to buy another prepaid card to finish this transaction the bother gives me second thoughts.
It is the little things like this in life that get stuck in my craw.
The 35 dollar card may well not make it past the liquor store as I think a bottle of Baileys is around that price.
what is this extra 87 cent it is not enough to be tax?
why is it not included in the price quoted I did check the price before I bought the card.
I don’t know, but I would suggest that you contact sales (at) avast (dot) com with as much information on the purchase attempt.
I would guess there might be a difference in currency rate in the conversion at Visa if they aren’t using the same rates. Though that shouldn’t be different if the price was ub Canadian Dollars in the first place.
Where were you doing this upgrade from ?
Was it for the Pro or AIS version ?
I have checked the Pro upgrade using the Upgrade button in the free avastUI and I get a figure of CAD 33.27, see image1. For an upgrade to AIS from the free version Upgrade button, I get a figure of CAD 41.61, see image2.
What I see here in Canada is below and as I have avast! Pro I’m sure it will last a lot longer than a bottle of Baileys. 
I had the same page as YoKenny same price I guess it was the visa conversion can’t think of anything else.

Quite possibly the Cdn$ shown isn’t a true figure, but converted by the seller from another currency and displayed in Cdn$. If that’s the case, keep in mind two things about Visa:
(1) As already pointed out, Visa may be using a different exchange rate;
(2) Most common types of Visa accounts (I have Emerald) add a small service charge when currency conversion is involved. This is another possible explanation for the increase, although normally it would show as a separate amount (similar to shipping charges) rather than just adding to the actual purchase price.
I have purchased a vanilla master card as the store was out of visa in 50 dollar values what a pain in the butt… still cannot process the order. I am on my fouth call to master card gazillon emails from element 5 the company that processes the order. I will keep you posted.

So now I used pay pal a first for me.
The order went thru.
Avast downloaded… then I got a message that avast was being uninstalled thought it was the new avast program. Computer shut down now nothing. What do I do next? I have no virus protection now nothing.

- Open (execute) the uninstall utility

- Click REMOVE
- Restart your computer

it seems avast is already gone so why uninstall it again. I will be the first to admit I do not know what I am doing to start the computer in Safe mode is greek to me. I thought having this more comprehensive protection would bail me out of having to know this sort of stuff I have to go for a root canal soon.

The Utility ensures that there are no remnants in registry. etc. allowing a clean install.
While I was talking to you it installed a avast trial version it said wanted a key I found it on desktop now it says trial version could not be activated…now it says it needs to shut down the computer again bah I am overwhelmed… don’t think this is what I want but not sure will be back shutting down.
When my computer turned back on the screen was blue it will not do anyting and has not loaded xp? I am at the library now I can get the task pane to start but it keeps going unresponsive.
I am in big trouble now aren’t I???
What caused this was it avast?
How do I fix it?
My thoughts go to what I have heard of the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH is this what I have is my computer now no good?
Will it cost more than a new computer to fix?

Ok I am back windows will not load however the task pane opened and in there I found a link to avast and eventually got back here not sure how I did any of this. So I think it was not the blue screen of death I have heard of but something else lord knows what? Not dead at all just kicked around some.
