trying to clean my laptop of all viruses

Hi,
I am going to be giving my old laptop to a friend, but before I do I need to make sure all viruses are off so that she gets it clean. I also need to get rid of any programs of mine and anything running in the background that she will not use. It is running pretty slow and sends up errors that keeps saying “wait” and pages unresponsive. I have scanned for viruses and the last time came up with 5…they are in quarantine or something. I know you guys can help with the virus issue (oh my computer the other day all of the sudden it blacked out and then gave me a blue screen that said it was doing a physical dump) I got it to work a couple of days later. But one of my concerns is that I may leave stuff on here of mine and then it will be in my computers abyss and my friend might somehow get access to it when I thought I had wiped out everything of mine.

Thanks so much!

Since it is a laptop, it likely came with a recovery option.
I suggest you use that to bring the laptop back to the state it was when you bought it.

Hi thank you for letting me know that, however I need to clean up my stuff since I will be using it for another month or so…Since that is the case, could you please help me in figuring out what is causing my computer to be unbelieving so slow.

Also if I do reset it like you said will that delete all the programs already on there? IE. Microsoft office, games, avast antivirus that I have set up for her, chrome?

Please let me know…Thanks!

As I said, everything will be as the day you bought it.
Only that software will remain.
Everything else will be gone, so backup things that you don’t want to loose.
Family pictures, emails, bookmarks and such.
But you should already have a backup of them anyway.

We can have a look to see if we can speed up things a bit.
