"Trying to contact device"; Siren function doesn't work

I tried testing Avast (free version) on my Android Razr Maxx.
I created an account on PC, tried the “Siren” function, but got the message “Trying to contact device.”
My android Razr Maxx was right next to me and the PC, and never made a sound.

I even uninstalled and re-installed Avast

Any ideas?

Was your mobile data on to reveive the SMS message?
I am having the same problem. Remote lock and message works but no siren??
