How can I turn off the antivirus free edition during online gaming? It causes severe lag every so often.

Well, you can “stop the on-access protection”, using the rightclick on the avast! blue tray icon, even though it’s probably not the safest thing to do.
What machine/operating system do you have? Normally, avast! shouldn’t cause any noticable delays…
