We’re having issues with Act! 2010 and Outlook 2003 integration on Win Vista and 7 with the built in Windows firewall. This issue doesn’t affect XP and all the computers have Avast ISS 5.x installed.
What I’d like to ask is whether we should turn off the Windows Firewall and rely on the Avast Firewall. We are, of course, running behind an SIP firewall, but that doesn’t protect us against stupid users. (I’m hoping to deploy an AD domain and standard user accounts to do that.)
There would be no point in running with two personal firewalls on the same system.
Since Avast is much easier to manage than Windows Firewall with it’s default advanced control panel, I would turn of the Windows Firewall.
Windows 7 Firewall works well with a 3rth party control panel though.
yes win7 firewall is not so bad (as xp fw was) and with the program Windows 7 Firewall Control (free is enought) works well and offer a decent security.
Obviously every other firewall (free or pay) is better, but is decent for home users
