im still reading alot about not to run two av and all the problems im running norton 360 3.0 and avast 4.8 i see no problems but maybe it just hasn’t hit me yet any comments?
Well, if you have no problems now, that’s great.
However, I highly suspect that you will in the future. You’ll probably notice that your computer is a lot faster if you remove norton as well.
No need for two A/V’s. They’ll just step all over each other.
Also, they’re old articles, but you get the drift…

If you have no problems now, your lucky. The question is for how long…
I suggest the following:

If anyone wants two av’s, I suggest avast! Home Edition & ClamWin. ClamWin is on-demand only so it wont conflict with avast!.
I use avast! Home Edition & ClamWin because scheduled scans isn’t available in avast! Home Edition. Scheduled scans is available in ClamWin.
There is a work around for scheduled scans in avast! Home Edition, but I also like a second “opinion”, even though ClamWin doesn’t have the best detections.
Yes, you are right, I did same test too, I kept both of them in my computer for about one month, the only problem was that rarely my system freeze during windows “log on”, rarely.
I did same test with Norton + McAfee, the only probelm was that my system went too SLOW!! but working
I added ESET to Norton + McAfee… windows dead! I did removed ESET and system back working.
avast! and Norton can work together and as what I’ve seen they work smoth, just remember to set avast! installation folder in program files folder in Norton Excluded folder to prevent any problem, and same about avast!, open avast windows from taskbar Icon, go to standard shield and go to excluded setting (I don’t remember where it was) and add path to Norton installation folder.
during browsing and… when a virus find, usually no problem happen, because I’ve seen norton block it very faster than avast! and they don’t conflict to clean it.
that’s all what I’ve seen.
My suggestion is to remove norton and keep Avast! 4.8 then if you want some on demand i can suggest Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware and never let a cpu without firewall so u can turn on windows firewall if not or your current one and i can also say to add Windows Defender this kit look really good and if u got any problem we will be there for that
I can say that i see some guy to got 2 anti virus and in the end they got a blue screen so if i was you i wont take the risk
Hopefully that may continue, but it is more by lucky accident than by design. These forums are littered with AV conflicts of two or more installed AVs conflicting and at a most serious level, it could lock up your system. This has been known to happen on boot, resulting in a failure to boot into normal mode. You will also note that Norton features highly in these conflicts reported in these forums and this is even when it has been uninstalled.
