When attempting to send an email via Thunderbird, I received the following error message:
“An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: concurrent connection limit in Avast exceeded(pass:0, processes:thunderbird.exe[50]).”
On a page about anti-virus-related performance issues in Thunderbird, I read: “Once I stopped the Avast service and restarted thunderbird was once again working perfectly. Its an ssl cache problem within AVAST, not Thunderbird.”
So I then attempted to uninstall Avast. When I went to my program list, right-clicked, and clicked “uninstall,” I saw the black screen that reads “Configure your Avast installation.” When I clicked “uninstall,” the screen hung. I turned off my computer and rebooted, then tried again, this time clicking “Repair” on that black screen. It hung again. Both times, nothing happened when I attempted to X out of the black screen.
Problem #1 led to Problem #2. If you have any suggestions, I’d be grateful. (I use Windows 7.)
Thank you.
