two security centers in control panel

The computer has two security centers in control panel. Just finished repair of an uneven installation of xp and have two security centers in the Control Panel. Otherwise everything working fine, fully updated. What could be causing this? has anyone come across it before?

Seems there are duplicate .cpl files… Or a registry problem?
Never heard before. Did you Google?

Yes nothing from google. Will try to get a screenshot.

Edit - attached a screenshot

Some file should be repeated:
%SystemRoot%\System32*.cpl
Maybe wsc.cpl and wsc(2).cpl

Thanks Tech I think I’ve got it sorted

I found a few duplicates in System32, as well as the ones relating to Security Center. However the owner having watched his system brought back to smooth running did not want me to change anything more right now and I left him happily gaming away for the time being. When I got home I checked a system that I had repaired and there were no duplicate entries. So I don’t know just yet until I return to his place - perhaps later today. But the OS was running just fine with internet hooked up and no problems at all. First time I’ve encountered this, but not a lot I can do until I’m back there. Hopefully before the Christmas break. I will post back here.

Just a brief note. Usual practice for me is to clean up a computer before I run a repair with the installation disk. (And I have only very rarely need to run repair of that sort). I think the tidyup beforehand makes a big difference, and I think I am left with duplicate files in System32 in this case because I didn’t first take time to collect and put out the amassed garbage. That said, the PC performance seemed sufficient, and I have just spoken to owner who says he’s happy as things are (obviously until something goes wrong, if something does). Despite being a free job I will have to return to do the job properly, as if it were being done for a client. I return to do what I should have done in the first place.
