Two Startups in MSConfig ALMOST Identical

System configuration (msconfig.exe) shows TWO avast startup items labeled, “avast! Antivirus” (no quotes). Both items show the identical manufacturer: AVAST Software. Both items also show the identical location: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. HOWEVER…

One item is blank for Date Disabled, but shows this “Command”:
“C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\AvastUI.exe” /nogui

The other shows disabled on 4/14/13 4:37:13 AM and THIS “Command”:
“C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\avastUI.exe” /nogui

See the difference? The “disabled” startup item points to “avastUI.exe” with LOWERCASE “a.” I can re-checkmark the disabled item, but the checkmark disappears when I click Apply, and as a result, my System Configuration always reverts to “Selective startup” when I apply the radio button for “Normal startup.” The registry location only shows one entry, the one with capital “A.” Reality as I know it is disintegrating.

I am certain that a Global Conspiracy of International Bankers is to blame, and that the Fate of the Civilized Universe depends upon our next course of action, but all I really care about is my Windows 7 64-bit SP1 operating system functioning as advertised. I’m a happy avast! user from back before it was cool to be one, so I’m certain also that Avast is performing impeccably, but I proudly just became a paying client, so I’m availing myself of this forum in an attempt to make the world a better place. Any suggestions?

PS: I was wrong to blame “a” global conspiracy. I should have written “THE.” Everybody knows there’s only ONE.

Windows doesn’t distinguish between uppercase and lowercase, as far as filenames go - so AvastUI.exe is the very same file as avastUI.exe.
(Or, put differently, if you have AvastUI.exe on your disk and attempt to start avastUI.exe, that’s the one that gets started.)
Maybe avast! used to put one version of the name into the registry and later someone changed it into the other one… in any case, you really don’t have to worry about it, both the variants are equal.
