UAC settings stopping start up...

hello all

I’m getting a problem with avast starting up… when i start my PC. the avast widget stays blank also the task bar icon does not start, to get them to work i have to click on the avast desktop icon to get them up and running.

iv think iv got it down to the win7 UAC settings stopping them from starting, because if i turn the UAC settings off, then restart my PC avast starts perfectly . but if i keep UAC settings set off then also my internet protected mode turns to off, grr.

any help with this

thanks Paul

did you just install avast or have you been running avast for a long time before this started ?

Hi,

Can you update us with the current UAC settings that you have in the computer?

hi
iv just installed it around 3 days ago…!

the newest free version…

and i have windows 7 ulimate 63-bit fully updated.

thanks

hi

my UAC setting are always nitify

thanks

OK…what AV did you have before installing avast ?
did your PC come with a preinstalled AV ?
have you uninstalled it ?
did you use a removal tool to clear any leftovers before installing avast ?

run and reboot - Uninstallers – Security Software
http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

If there are no other security softwares apart from avast! in the computer, Try to set the UAC level to Default - Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer

Reboot and try for avast!

Update us with results.

@ Pondus
i had avg free, installed it. and my pc is a self build. and i removed avg with avg removel tool…
thanks

@ iYogisolutions1

ok i will try.

OK…then you did run the correct one…as AVG have a 32bit and 64bit removal tool

you may try avast repair and see if that changes anything

For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

hi all iv done a pick so you can see more of what my probem is.

and no chandge Pondus and yes used correct uninsaller cos the other one would not work on a 64 bit environment.

@ iYogisolutions1

It is best to set the UAC level to Default - Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer

@ YoKenny

I do not have it set to Default but to Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer the next to lowest setting.

@YoKenny

ps.

also a more important question i think is. am i still protected with this happening,?

thanks

You are most definitly protected as I have been running this way since I got this Windows 7 system.

OK iv set to Default but to Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer, like you’ve said. and i still have a blank gadget and no tray icon :frowning: after a restart

My avast! gadget indicates I am Secured.

Hi,

Please confirm that avast! is running during the startup. Plus make sure that the Start Up type for avast! anti virus Service is set to Automatic. To check these settings

  1. Windows Button + R → in Run → msconfig → StartUp → Make sure that avast! is checked over there.

  2. Windows Button + R → in Run → msconfig → Services → Check for the Start Up type for avast! Antivirus.

Please update us back.
