Hello,
Similar problems on windows xp have been solved by activation of the service “Terminal Server”
I think this service was replaced by “Remote Desktop Service” on W10.
So , may you have to verify this service enabled before to perform a clean install?
It is currently not running. I’ll activate it and see what happens.
If Terminal Services will not start see my post at:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=202276.msg1393542#msg1393542
Tried enabling the service but that didn’t work. The clean reinstall did though, thanks!
I’m having much the same issue. No systray icon and the UI won’t load. I’m an MCP in Windows, so I have some idea of what I’m doing.
First, I attempted a repair using Windows install manager. No success.
Second I attempted a re-install of the new software version, no success. For this I pulled a new install package.
Not sure what’s going on. It’s been solid until recently (prior to 17.1.2294), and I’ve recommended the product for years. I’m becoming irritated to the point I’m considering using a different product.
I will try using the uninstall tool and installing it again, but this is something I really don’t get warm and fuzzy about when it’s my security software
System: Windows 7 SP1 all current updates
Avast install package reports 17.1.3394.0 downloaded today fresh
Other security loaded
Comodo Firewall 10 (firewall ONLY, I double checked))
Superanitspyware 6.0.1240 (scanner only in the free version, no realtime scanning)
AdBlock plus for Firefox
EDIT: 64bit Windows
You’re welcome.
