Avast One UI fails to open to full size, although the window outline shows up. After multiple reboots it continues to show this behavior. It’s as if the UI opening is stuck halfway to completion.
Avast is updated to the latest version (ver. 24.11.6137 - build 24.11.9615.891)
Running Windows 11, monitor resolution of 1920x1080.
Edit - The post ate my comment when attaching the image.
I don’t use the Avast One product, but in the Avast Antivirus Free the UI is a fixed size - Your image shows a grey line to the right, which I believe is a scroll bar does that work ?
EDIT: I tried re-installing the software, it told me my PC had to restart, and when it restarted my software was fixed. I don’t think the software every reinstalled. Just a simple restart of my PC seemed to have fixed it. Strange.
I’m having a similar problem. I’m assuming a new update broke something? The Avast window doesn’t allow me to resize my window. As you can see with the image I’m uploading, the right half of the Avast One software screen is unreadable. I can’t scroll horizontally on the home page (as seen in my screenshot). This makes the software unusable in many instances. I can’t access buttons on the software since I can’t resize the window or horizontally scroll to access the stuff being cropped off. But ideally NO ONE wants to scroll horizontally. I should be able to easily resize the window in this instance. This needs a fix ASAP.
Yes, the vertical scroll bar works. However, because the window never finishes opening to full size, neither the minimize nor close button at the top right are functional. You cannot click on them where they are visible, nor where they are expected to be based on the outline of the window. The only way to close the window is to right-click on the Avast icon on the Windows Taskbar and select Close Window.
I’d just like for the window to complete its opening process to full size so it’s easier to read!
As I said, the Avast Antivirus Free the UI is a fixed size, so it looks like it is the same in Avast One.
Why this is done I don’t know, but it has been like this as I have been using avast, over 20 years.
Is this screen on a Laptop or Monitor ?
As 1080p is pretty small for recent laptops and monitors my screen resolution is set to 27" external monitor 1440p 2560x1440 resolution. If you are able to display at the resolution give that a try.
I have been using Avast for about that same amount of time, and it only recently began exhibiting that strange behavior. It is on an external 24" monitor attached to a laptop through a docking station and KVM switch. The laptop has 2560x1440 resolution on its internal display, and the app does the same thing there. This is the same setup I’ve been using for years, and it only started happening within the last 6 months or so.
I’ve uninstalled Avast One, and installed Avast Free Antivirus, and it opens just fine, so the issue appears to be with Avast One.
Good choice to try the Avast Antivirus version as opposed to Avast One, I have never used that as I didn’t like its lack of configuration (my biggest no, no) and different components to Avast Antivirus version.
You’re setup closely matches mine with a Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD - 27" external monitor 1440p 2560x1440 resolution - avast! free 24.12.9725a
