I updated from avast 8 to avast 9 pro today and after restarting i got that “what’s new” splash screen. but after that avast ui doesnt show. an i get an error message saying:
“The instruction at 0x00000000 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program.”
And this keeps on coming up as many times i close it. The avast icon also isnt there in the tray (it’s blank). I cant uninstall, change, repair avast either. I used windows troubleshooter and it said there is a compatibility issue. I run windows 8 64bit. i also have win7 64bit and 32bit pcs, and the same thing happened.
i should have the trial version of avast pro. i always liked avast, it never gave troubles, but now this is really bothering. >:(
U can’t uninstall, change, repair avast!!! That’s weird… what previous antivirus did u have before Avast? If you had a previous antivirus different from Avast, use it’s removal tool from here http://www.avast.com/en-eu/faq.php?article=AVKB11#artTitle
After you ran the Avast Cleanup Tool, do a manual restart of your computer. After that has been done, install a fresh new copy of Avast. After installations is finished Avast will do a start-up scan. When the scan is finished, do another manual restart of your computer.
okay… installing this again means downloading another 90mb or so
my laptop is dual boots win7 and win8… and i got the problem in both os. i deleted all avast files in win7 from win8 booted caz of this problem. this same thing happened with my dad’s pc (win7). there was no other antiviruses in our pcs previously.
