UIU32m.exe is a virus? on recovery drive (D: in my case)

Avast keeps reporting “Virus found” UIU32m.exe in a folder on my Recovery drive (in my case D:).
Avast suggests “move to virus chest” but returns the “access denied” message when I try to do this.
I have tried clicking “delete” but I get “access denied” again.
Through the DOS console, I still get “access denied”.
What now?

What is the full path ?
This file could be related to a modem, Conexant Universal Device Install/Uninstall x86 Application, so the full path may help conform or deny this. Is this something like the location d:\hp\DRIVERS\Conexant_TREX_Modem\UIU32m.exe ?

What was the malware name given on the detection (suspect win32:malware-gen) ?
The malware name may also give a clue if it were something related to internet connections.

See post 3 on this forum topic, which I think is the same as yours http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6132_102-0.html?messageID=3337039 ?
If this is the case then it is likely to be an FP (more on that on confirmation), which is why I don’t want you to act in haste and repent at leisure.

The recovery partition/drive is likely to be protected so that is probably why access is denied.

I would say if it has been on the recovery partition for some time (check the file properties) then it doesn’t present an immediate risk, so it is likely to be inert even if it is infected. So you can slow down, don’t try anything drastic nor act in haste.

I just upgraded to ver. 5 and got the same result - in addition the file was found in two places on my C: drive. Avast moved them to the chest. You don’t want to modify the image on D:
