Hi all,
I just installed v.9 of Avast and every 5-8 seconds the systray icon does a rolling-like thingy. I don’t want it to. How do I un-animate it? I can’t find anything in the Menus.

why not?
it just show that the realtime protection does its work…
Click on Settings and then Appearance. Uncheck “Animate the icon when scanning”.
@ Gopher,
I already did that and triple checked that “Animate the icon when scanning” was unchecked, but it made no difference.
@ Pondus,
It’s distracting because I can see it in my peripheral vision; and it just bugs the c**p out of me.
You are clicking the “OK” box at the bottom of the window where you unchecked the animate icon box? If you don’t the setting will not take effect by just closing the window with the X at the top.
Hi Rohugh,
Yes, I did click OK: but it continued to do it anyway. I listen to an online radio station(s) and I think that’s why there’s always motion.
Unfortunately there were other problems (longer boot times, random web inaccessibility — or not able to connect to the web at all until a hard shutdown and reboot, etc.) so I Revo uninstalled it, went through the registry and deleted everything Avast (by the by, there’s quite a number of Avast Legacy stuff that won’t delete) and downloaded v.8.0.1489.399, installed it, and I’m happy now. It’s a little different UI-wise, but easy enough to navigate.
I’ll keep v.8 until v.10 comes out and hopefully I’ll have a better experience with v.10.
