unable send or receive email with Outlook

I am unable to send or receive email with my Outlook 2003 on my laptop
computer. What happens is that Outlook seems to try to send and recieve
messages but tries for only an instantand nothing happens.No error
messages appear. The server, etc. settings are definitelly correct as my
Outlook desktop with the same setting works fine.

This problem started happening when I put in a new version of Avast. My
curren version is 4.7 Home. I use Windows XP home. When I go to the Avast
Icon and click on Outlook Exchange a sign says “the provider is waiting
for a subsystem to start”. This sign is always there no matter how long I
leave it on. I do not know if this is what is causing the problem.Please
let me know what I can do.

There is a bug in the last version that will be corrected in 2 days, at most.
You can check if the avast plugin is enabled into the Outlook 2003 settings, although this won’t correct the major problem. There are other open threads about this problem right now.

Sorry to say that your first entry in avast forum was a problem.
