Unable to access the BPP Console after install.

I am moving a client from ADNM to BPP and the ANDM uninstall went smoothly. We are installing BPP on a different server with more resources. The BPP target server is running Windows Server 2003 STD.

After installing BPP and restarting the server, the link on the desktop just fails with “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage”.

I tried to go to the site via port 8731 and I get crossdomainerror. If I try to go to the https port 8732, i get the cannot display page error.

We sell thousands of dollars of Avast products every year and this crap without any phone support is starting to make us reconsider our choice in AV solution providers because an AV solution without support is not a solution.

Hi The3Geeks,

Please check if the services “avast! Administration Console” status is “Started”

Yeah, we have made sure all of the services are up and running, stopped and started them to make sure.

We have been able to access the page by going to …/service.aspx on the server, but the default link does not work.

I just ran into the same problem with a customer. The service.aspx helped indeed, so I just temporarily made it the default link for the shortcut. Weird it doesn’t work in IE but it does in Firefox.

Thanks for this post. I was having the same issue on BP. I changes /Avast/Default.aspx to /Avast/service.aspx and it works!

Awesome!

Bravo! Needed to know this. http://servername/Avast/service.aspx

This should be both prominent and pinned.

After reading what I found in another post below, should I be concerned about using the service port? Can’t say I like the “it’s kept in place for debugging and troubleshooting purposes” verbiage. Is it in any other way inferior, is is it just the difference between encrypted and not?

On the secured internal network, I am not really concerned that someone is going to hack my console connection from my IT person’s desktop.

http://server/Avast/Service.aspx will use unencrypted (unsecure) connection from the Administration Console UI (browser) to the server, it’s kept in place for debugging and troubleshooting purposes and should be used at your own risk.

http://server/Avast/Default.aspx should perform encrypted (secure) connection and should be used in preference if possible. Nevertheless, it obviously don’t work at your environment. Could you please provide more details about the actual problem (error the browser reports, attach the service log file, etc…)?
