I have IS and a license file, whether I go through settings-subscriptions-activate or double-click on the file the result is the same.
Per the instructions you get a popup window that supposed to asks you if you want to install the licence and to click “yes”. My popup is blank. Nothing to click on. The popup sits there on the screen no matter how long I wait, and you can’t “x” it out or close the user interface with restarting.
If there’s something wrong with the file, you can have your license resent to the email address used when ordering:

Perform a clean installation of avast and try to use the license again.

Ironically I had just done one to fix another glitch.
