Unable to add Chrome extensions to Avast

I had to purchase a new laptop, and now I cannot install Chrome extensions in Avast Secure Browser.

If anyone thinks they can help I’ll be happy to explain further, but I don’t want to waste everyone’s time if not…

At the bottom of the page, look for ‘Go To Chrome WebStore’. Secure browser is set to block installation of all non-avast extensions, just untick block and accept risk.

https://chromewebstore.google.com/ Run Avast Secure browser and point to whatever extension you require.

I appreciate the swift, detailed response, but I feel a little foolish here, sorry.

I don’t see the option to unblock anywhere. There’s nothing to unblock at the bottom of the avast addons page where it says “Go to Chrome webstore”. When go to the Chrome Webstore there’s no option to unblock. When I put in an extension I get this

Except Chrome is already installed.

Would you mind explaining where I’m going wrong? Other than owning a computer in the first place…

You must go to:

  • secure://security-privacy-center/
  • extension protection.

https://addons.avast.com
https://chromewebstore.google.com

Yeah, I’ve been there - there is no “extension protection”.

And turning off Extension Guard won’t help.

I was also having this problem. Found out there was an browser update after updating I can now install extensions chrome webstore.

Hopefully this helps you.

Hm - Avast claims to be up to date (version 118.0.22847.89 - and I only installed it yesterday) but I still can’t get this to work. Just want to install Bitwarden - had it on my old PC but that died and need it on the new one.

we fixed this issue in Browser 119.0 release, please try to trigger the update by visiting secure://settings/help
