Unable to detect inet since updating avast

Sorry if this is not in right spot, but a couple of days ago my pc did an update to the new avast. And since then i have not been able to connect to the internet. I am running windows 7 and have a huawei e960 modem, which just plugs in and works. My internet works on my sons older pc which is running vista and has not done the program update.

On my pc i have also tried to connect using other isp and other wireless modems. Nothing wants to work, just a red cross in my task bar.

My isp said a few ppl have had this problem, but unsure ho they resolved it. Can anyone please help??

I suggest an installation from scratch:

  1. Download the latest version of avast! Uninstall Utility and save it.
  2. Download the latest avast! version and save it.
  3. Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
  4. Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
  5. Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.
  6. Register your free copy or add the license key for Pro.
  7. Check and post the results.

i cant do number 1 as i cant get it online, i have tried to temp disable avast and still no inet

Can’t you download by another computer?

I did have this problem once with an e180 modem, solved it by uninstalling from add remove program’s and then re installing the ISP.
