Unable To Display Web Pages Using Google Chrome

Hi Guys’
I’d sure appreciate any offers of help with this one.
My daughter was given a new laptop(Toshiba L450D)and it’s running Windows7,has 1GB memory and 160GB HD, I believe.
As a “freebie”, it came with pre-loaded software programs,MSE AV and the Win7 Firewall will be used for now and it
connects to the internet with mobile broadband.

My knowledge of computers is fairly limited but she asked me to set it up for her. Using Google Chrome and being
highly satisfied with it,I thought I’d install it on hers. It installed ok but it wouldn’t display web pages, I
kept getting the following error code;
ERROR 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED: Unknown error

Have checked in Google Chrome Help and this error seems to be quite a common one but the “fixes” are way beyond my
scope. IE8 is working ok and I downloaded FireFox and web pages display no problem.

Any help offered would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

Try the following
go to Internet Options in IE and then Connections > LAN Settings, check and see if you have a proxy setting. If you do, disabled all proxy related things and try Chrome again.
Let us know if this helps or, if this isn’t your problem.

Hi Bob3160,
Many thanks for your welcome advice, I’ll certainly give it a try and see how I get on. It won’t be for a week or
so as her computer has been returned to the supplier owing to an unrelated problem and a replacement’s in the
pipeline.

Thanks again bob.
