Unable to download Mobile Backup

I upgraded to avast mobile security pro because I had a bad experience with a manufacturer withdrawing their backup software leaving me unable to restore. After upgrading avast, it offered the backup app but on clicking the link it gave an error on the page; since then I have been unable to find where to download it on either of my connected devices. Please could you tell me how I can download it as there seems to be no phone number to speak to somebody about it. The backup was a primary reason for upgrading so please could you let me know the answer to this with a matter of urgency. Thank you

As far as I can tell from another topic, this avast product has been withdrawn also.

At first we thought that it was just European access, but it stretched to Australia, with only USA being able to access it. But that is not the intention to only have it in the USA.

Hi, if this product has been withdrawn then does anyone know of a customer services number or email where I can get a refund because it was advertised as a benefit of upgrading to pro and witjout it I wouldn’t have upgraded. I phoned avast direct but they said I had to use this forum regarding the mobile product.

Hi, we decided to remove Mobile Backup & Restore app from Google Play Store due to the change in our mobile strategy. However the app can still be downloaded directly from this link: http://apk.ff.avast.com/AvastBackup.apk. Note that it works correctly in Firefox and Chrome browsers only.

Thanks for the info Alex.

Will it be discontinued? Or it will be changed into a new app, with other features, etc.?

Here in the US I can still download and install it directly from the Google Store:

Hi Alex,

thanks for the reply, but after my last experience with an unsupported product I am a little loathe to use it. I have been in touch with the support desk who as yet have not responded 96 hours later … I am beginning to lose a little faith in Avast!

Once again though, thanks for the response but unless it is a product that is going to continue to be developed I think I am best to avoid it.

Hi, we’ve decide not to develop this app any more to focus on other Avast apps.
If you have this app installed, you can install it on other devices via My apps tab in Google play or direct link.
Also server support will remain fully working, if you are using this app it will work as before.
If you want to download your data from My.avast.com, go to Device - Backup Section, select Calls/Contact/SMS and click on Download button.

PLEASE — I LOVE THIS APP AS IT IS INCLUDED IN MY AVAST ACCOUNT SUBSCRIPTION!! PLEASE DO NOT ABANDON IT!!

I also have had very good results from using this app… very sad to see it go.

It would be good to try to get a google search result directing people to answers on this app.

I was in a panic yesterday because I upgraded to pro, backed up my phone (as I had done before when getting anew phone). Prior usage gave me the confidence to then wipe my old phone. Upon starting up the new phone, I could not find the app in play store…

Just when I was beginning to think I was going to simply lose all my data, I started searching the forums for support for the app.

Great forums by the way!

You’ve discovered us
Welcome!

Wow, disappointing to hear backup isn’t being pursued anymore.

I just upgraded my phone and was looking all over trying to install avasts backup, couldn’t find it.

Avast had the best backup system I could find. I don’t want to use a backup that isn’t being developed anymore. I don’t trust it not to just dissappear one day. The backup portion was the ONLY reason I downloaded avast mobile

Check Reply #4 from one of the avast team, it has a direct link.

Hello,

today i alos lookig for the app at the play store without success.
Is backup now a feature in a other avast app?

thx

See Reply #4.

Thanks.

But when avast change their strategy for mobile devices is the question how long we can use these old app version.
I´m affraid that the app will not supported in future android versions.

thx

You’re welcome.

For everything else, you’ve to wait for one of the devs.
