Unable to finish the transfer to the Sandbox/Quarantine

Scanning some files from File Explorer, Avast Free finds viruses: but it is very slow in transferring them to the Sandbox/Quarantine, and frequently it does not to finish at all.
Avast is updated - Win 10 pro x64 - Can you help me, please?

Some examples of the program/file name could help ?

Why do you feel the need to do on-demand scans ?

  • With a resident (on-access) scanner like Avast, the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.

Thanks for your answer.
I often download by utorrent some .rar file containing programs and patches/cracks. It is very frequent to find viruses inside them, so I usually scan them from File Explorer (really: from Directory Opus) even before unpacking, or as soon as unpacked, because sometimes (rarely) Avast fails in authomatically scanning them. When a virus is found I check it and follow the Avast suggestion, that usually is “move to the sandbox/quarantine”. A moving bar begins to increase from left to right, but it goes more and more slowly, and often does not end the process at all.
Examples of infections:
Win32:MiscX-gen [PUP]
FileRepMalware [misc]

The Web Shield and the File System shield should be monitoring activity, so essentially they would have scanned.

  1. the download WEB Shield.
  2. the File System Shield when the downloaded file is saved to your Hard Drive.

You can also submit the files to

You can also submit the files to https://www.virustotal.com where it can be analysed by over 60 different scanners.

So, you are suggesting not to scan on-demand those files because they are always authomatically scanned yet.
Thank you very much.

You’re welcome.

Given it is a little redundant - but what I can’t really understand is why there would be a difference in what is found by the explorer scan. If you actually tried to run an executable it would be scanned. Though a packed executable like a .rar it may be very large to unpack for a live scan when downloaded. But that probably wouldn’t be the case when the explorer scan was run.

So at any point in the future you chose to run it, then it should be scanned by the file system shield.

This is also why I gave the link to virustotal so you could upload for a greater testing sample.
