Greetings, I am unable to get updates for my copy of ais (latest). Initially I was using the 5.0 something version and it wouldn’t update the program or definitions. After spending a couple of hours I had to uninstall it. I installed it to the current version but it won’t let me update the definitions. The program says my license is invalid. I had the license resent but now the program says that license is invalid. What should I do next?
I tried to send in a ticket but the site won’t accept me as a valid user. ((
You could try the recently released version - Download the latest version of avast (save it to your hard disk), 5.1.889 - http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe and see if you have more success with that.
It may be best to do a clean reinstall using the uninstall utility also.
- Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear5.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for both 4.8 and 5.x).
-
- Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 4.8 if previously installed and then for 5.x, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.
If you are still having problems with the license after the clean reinstall, contact sales (at) avast (dot) com and outline the problem.
