On my Email client (thunderbird), my smtp server is defined as smtp.toto.com:25 with TLS and authentication (as if Avast was not existing) and SMTP scan is well unactivated.
But mails don’t go flow out…
This was working fine with avast 4.1 but not with avast 4.5
Did you disable smtp scanning in both Internet Mail and the Outlook/Exchange provider? It depends on what email client you are using which one is used.
what do you call “disable scanning in email client” ???
I have never activate such option (and I don(t know where to do so) in my email client 'thunderbird).
And if I’m well reading online help, STMP settings and Authentication are for warnings sent from Avast to my email address, and not related to SMTP scans.
with my settings (smtp server defined as smtp.toto.com:25 with TLS and authentication in Thunderbird (as if Avast was not existing), and SMTP scan unactivated in Avast) :
mails can not flow out if avast resident mail protection is running
but all is working fine when stopping Avast protection.
So for me there is really a bug, Avast continuing to intercept SMTP flow despite unactivation of SMTP scan in the settings
Initially (in Avast 4.1) I haven’t installed Outlook/eXchange protection in Avast but only internet mail resident protection. And I don’t change anything when updating to 4.5
