unable to install antivirus pro.

Hi everyone,
I am trying to install Antivirus Pro. the process starts but within seconds
I get a popup message headed “Process Trust” Fatal error current Avast installer
is not trusted by avast self defense module.
Prior to trying to install this version of Avast I had the Internet Security version.
Last week it started playing up and by coincidence the subscription ran out
so I deleted it hence I’m trying to install a new version.
I have ran the Avastclear tool.
Can you help.
Thank you.

and any previous used AV…before avast is fully removed using that vendors removal tool?

tools here http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/

Thanks for your reply. I had already run the tool
you suggest. I’ve run it again using one from your link
but no joy I’m afraid. I do have a ticket running with
support but they seem to be taking so long, I thought
perhaps the forum could help.
Thanks again for your reply.

Do you have a version of avast installed currently? where did you download the new version you are trying to install ?

Download fresh copy from here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=147778.0 then delete the currently installed version - then run the avastclear tool and once completed and rebooted back to normal mode install the fresh copy downloaded earlier.

I got exactly the same error (AIS installer) and in the end, it was MBAM realtime protection. Once I turned that off, the installer worked.

warlock,
Thank you so much you hit the nail squarely on the head. My
Antivirus Pro. is now up and running.
Thanks again “warlock” and those that also replied.

Phew! found this thread just in time, I was tearing my hair out trying to install a fresh version of Avast! on a brand new Win8 machine. Had fully removed factory loaded McAfee and installed Malwarebytes, then started sweating! Another big thanks to warlock - though I should have known better as I’ve had similar problems in the past. Anyway, happy bunny now

spokes was your avast version also AIS? just wondering as I have the free avast and Malwarebytes is fine with the install, if yours is AIS then this might need reporting to the Malwarebytes team on their forum.

No, it’s the free version. Malwarebytes was also giving problems yesterday, blocking certain domains hosted by certain companies (now unblocked with latest update). Do you have MWB Pro or are you updating their database manually? The fact that I had to disable my MWB Pro protection to install the free version of Avast but you didn’t may be worth reporting - I’ll check out soon and do so if necessary.

Yes I’m running the RC pro version of MBAM 2 but I’m not having any problems at all.

Please report to MBAM forums if you could, they would love any information you could give them so this can be fixed, include a link to this topic in your report so that they can see it’s not a one off chance.

Thanks

Done

Thankyou

I get a process trust message each time I try to run a new install downloaded directly from Avast. Since I don’t have an AVast
icon in my tray, there is no way to block the action of SelfDefense Module. My previous Avast installation worked for a few years.
Recently, I use Revo Uninstall to remove the older Avast program. So there is no Avast icon on my tray.

I am at a catch 22, since the installaiton is blocked by the SelfDefense Module, which can’t be removed unless the old Avast shows up on the tray.

How do I get beyond this gridlock? Is there another way of removing the self defense module?

Patrick Y

Revo is not a tool designed to remove Antivirus programs. All AV’s have removal tools that need to be
downloaded and used in order to properly remove all of the Antivirus program.
