Unable to install Avast Home

Trying to install Avast Home edition on an Acer Aspire One netbook. The computer is already infested and shut down all attempted installs of Avast and MalwareBytes. I can get WinClamAV to install, but it does not locate/remove the problem. Nor does AdAware, which is installed, locate/remove the infested files. I need to be able to do a boot scan, but can’t get anything past what I think is a root kit. Any ideas?

OK, I got a handle on this. Between SaferNetworking’s RegAlyzer and MalwareBytes’ FileAssassin, I was able to remove some startup processes and files that seemed to be holding things back. Got Avast to install and doing an update, then run a boot scan. What a pain in the butt this has been.

Let us know how you get on with it.

Hi…

I can imagine. :frowning:

I would encourage you to perform the following along with what you have already done. First, see post #4 by Tech at this thread…

In addition, I suggest an online scan be performed…

Hope this helps.

May God Bless you!
