Unable to install new licence upon renewing

I renewed the Avast Licence yesterday using the “Renew Now” button on Avast. I received the e-mail with the licence and invoice, but when I insert the new licence, it does not update, but continues to tell me that the licence is about to expire.

Also the invoice has a $69 charge when the renewal notice showed a cost of $55,

I submitted a post to the Support Center, but have not received a response.

Each year, renewing the licence is a challenge! And it appears that Avast Support is non-existant!

Avast Internet Security Version 7.0.1482

Windows 7 OS, 64 bit

  1. Download avast! Internet Security: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot and enter your licence.

Will this install a new version? I am leary of updating since most times, either the computer will crash requiring in a complete reinstall of Windows, or else some programs that previously worked will no longer work.

The version you mentioned (7.0.1482) doesn’t exist, so I guess you’re already on 8.0.1482.
Therefore the answer is no, it’ll be a clean install of 1482.

I installed Version 8. However, even after I insert the new licence, Avast will expire in 6 days.

There are no error messages to suggest that the licence did not install.

Please contact sales[at]avast.com, they’ll fix it for you. (Add a link to this topic…!!)

Are you saving the avast licence file to the desktop and then clicking it… Does Avast then ask if you want to install the file ?
