Unable to install VMWare Workstation

Issue with Avast_8.0.1489 Internet Security :

Service VMware Authorization Service (VMAuthdService) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

One cannot install VMware-workstation-full-9.0.2-1031769 with Avast installed on the unit.

As mentioned in Post 54 - Uninstalling Avast Resulted in a successful installation.

http://communities.vmware.com/thread/334335?start=45&tstart=0

After performing everything under the sun… the above worked.
This is Obviously not an acceptable workaround.

I hope it can be fixed soon.

I can confirm this. I keep getting some kind of authorization error message. And it doesn’t help just to deactivate Avast, you must uninstall it completely in order to get VMWare Workstation to install. :frowning:

Is it possible that VMWare needs to make some changes on their end in order not to have to un-install
what protects you in order to install their program ???

There is the same problem with VMware Player (v5). When I’ve uninstalled the Avast Free (v8), installation of the VMware Player finished successfully.

Same problem, same solution!!!
I tried to install VMPlayer 5.02 and VMWorkstation 9.02 nothing to do with Avast 8.0 installed on my Pc.

After I Have disinstalled Avast 8.0 all instalations were good.

This is not an acceptable I have lost 4 hours of my life.

Hope this help someoneelse

I’ve reported the thread to the Mods. It should draw their attention to it.

Sorry for this problem, it will be fixed in next release.
To solve this problem just uncheck “hardware virtualization” checkbox on AvastUI troubleshooting page. (reboot is required to propagate this setting change)

Thanks
