Unable to register Avast free edition

Clean install?
Avast interface show that “A new version of the program (2015.10.3.2021) is available!” I try update with no success.
My main problem is obviously the subscription expiration. No clue what to do.

Hi.
the regsiter expired is extended from some resone.
tnx

on Windows XP you can get to version 17.9 which doesn’t require registration key and solves the situation.

But can that be installed on a winXP SP2 version ?

Would be the best choice to get rid of all that old stuff. But I’m not sure, if you’ll succeed with SP2.
Try and you’ll see.

ohh sorry SP2, it might work but not guaranteed, of course.

Not an issue on my XP system, but for a couple of posters in this topic unfortunately they have XP SP2.

Hello,

Has the universal license key problem been corrected?
I read earlier in the forums that it would be looked into.

I am using a old computer with Windows XP SP3.
My registration was expired and was extended for 90 days. After the 90 days will it self register again?

Upgrading to version 17.9 would not work with my computer.

Thank You.

yes it will autoregister again and again…

Hello MartinZ,

Did you check on status of key W11332244H9900A0420-8MRTR8W5

Was problem corrected?

Thank You Very much.

Please try this one: W31337000H9900A0421-WRW5MRXW

Thank you MartinZ. On my xp sp2 avast ver 2015.10.2.2215, it gives me one more year.

MartinZ

The password you posted also worked for me but it just delays the problem. Your password just gives one more year so what do we do then? The password given by Avast when used results in about 5 minutes of Free Avast indicating nothing is working before it starts up. Is the X over the icon misleading and the program is actually running? Can the password you gave be used next year and if not what do we do then?

I can’t use a new version of Free Avast as my CPU can’t handle the new code in Avast.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Robert

Next year, you renew it again for another year using that same password.

it probably won’t work, but don’t worry about the key, we protect you even when expired and the program autoregister itself after 10 days of expiration…

Mine expired today. The registration button is redundant.

I’m using XP, SP2 and Avast 9.

Although you have the Banner in the UI that you are unprotected.
What does the Avast Tray icon say if you hover the mouse over it ?

You may have to wait to see if the 10 day auto registration kicks in.

" Warning - Your system is unsecured . "

You mean I have no antivirus for ten days ?

This is very awkward.

And that red tape - Capcha, question, just to post in this forum
is really awkward too. I’ve never come across so many barriers
in any forum on the net.

I can never read what all these silly Capchas show. The one
here looks like some kid’s kindergarten artwork.

Captcha is only needed for your first 3 posts. (Spam protection)

That isn’t what I said, you get the warning, however the underlying protection should still be running.

You can check the Task Manager and see what Avast processes are running.
See attached image from my XP Pro SP3 system, whilst it is SP3 and a later version (so the processes will be different), you should be able to get an idea of what the Avast processes look like. They generally have Avast or asw at the start of the file name.

If Avast was in fact not running or disabled, then you would also be getting alerts from your OS.
