Clean install?
Avast interface show that “A new version of the program (2015.10.3.2021) is available!” I try update with no success.
My main problem is obviously the subscription expiration. No clue what to do.
Has the universal license key problem been corrected?
I read earlier in the forums that it would be looked into.
I am using a old computer with Windows XP SP3.
My registration was expired and was extended for 90 days. After the 90 days will it self register again?
Upgrading to version 17.9 would not work with my computer.
The password you posted also worked for me but it just delays the problem. Your password just gives one more year so what do we do then? The password given by Avast when used results in about 5 minutes of Free Avast indicating nothing is working before it starts up. Is the X over the icon misleading and the program is actually running? Can the password you gave be used next year and if not what do we do then?
I can’t use a new version of Free Avast as my CPU can’t handle the new code in Avast.
it probably won’t work, but don’t worry about the key, we protect you even when expired and the program autoregister itself after 10 days of expiration…
And that red tape - Capcha, question, just to post in this forum
is really awkward too. I’ve never come across so many barriers
in any forum on the net.
I can never read what all these silly Capchas show. The one
here looks like some kid’s kindergarten artwork.
That isn’t what I said, you get the warning, however the underlying protection should still be running.
You can check the Task Manager and see what Avast processes are running.
See attached image from my XP Pro SP3 system, whilst it is SP3 and a later version (so the processes will be different), you should be able to get an idea of what the Avast processes look like. They generally have Avast or asw at the start of the file name.
If Avast was in fact not running or disabled, then you would also be getting alerts from your OS.
