I had some problems with my old avast installation. I uninstalled it but now I’m unable to reinstall it. The setup always fails with an error message and then I can save a log file.
I’m using Windows 10 64bit.

No, I did not now about this at that time. But now it’s already uninstalled.
Rum it anyway. There are some fragments left behind that the Windows uninstaller won’t get.

Now I used the avast uninstaller in save mode. But I still can’t install it.
I think you answered this in your OP, but was there any log that could be saved?
What exactly is the error message?
Could you “attach” a screenshot?
Is there any way possible to use system restore?
Are you able to use your computer for anything?
Is there any other software you cannot access?
No I have no problems with my system, everything runs fine. In the meantime I installed Kaspersky (which also runs fine) but I want to change to avast again.

Remove avast with avastclear and try to install again with the offline installer.
@ Eddy The issue is the OP cannot do a clean uninstall to begin with.

The log shows a download problem with the on-line installer.
There are multiple reports about the same.
Using the off-line installer worked for those people.
Now I used the avast uninstaller in save mode. But I still can't install it.We do not really know if the problem of installing concerns the uninstall tool or always the antivirus as in its initial message ?
As far I’m concerned I understand the same thing as Eddy (still can’t install Avast) and he is right to say there are multiple reports about the on-line installer

not useless to try off-line installer.
Hi guys I’m still with you. But I’m currently in Mongolia so I don’t have internet all the time. Where can I find the offline installer or is it the “stand alone client” for business?
We are still waiting for an avast team member to help figure out why you cannot uninstall your flawed avast install.
If the offline install package works let us know.
I’m almost 100% sure it will work.
I tried the offline installer and it worked but it doesn’t update. There is no firewall installed so I have no idea what could possibly block this connection.
Maybe you got avast free (without firewall) with the link that gave you mchain #15 ?
